BBC Covent Garden

I contracted through Final Pixel for this work providing modeling and level building for the project. This work was featured in a BBC documentary, The People's Piazza: A History of Covent Garden. My work for this project mainly consisted of researching this area from different periods in the past centuries and piercing together a historically accurate digital version of it. I was in charge of modeling most of the larger buildings as well as a majority of the background ones. I also helped to place the models in the scene and then was live for trouble shooting during the virtual production shoot. I worked very closely with Bethany Haggy, https://www.artstation.com/bethanyhaggy who did the shaders/textures for the project and some of the modeling as well. For every building four different models where needed for each time period all with different variations: aristocracy, Georgian, market, and a futuristic/modern take. For the Georgian scene an interactive flashlight was used during the shoot to light up parts of the scene where it was pointing. For the hero building shown above (market building) I got CAD data provided by Final Pixel, remodeled all the pieces, and then modularly rebuilt the building inside of Unreal.

All in all, I had so much fun working on my first production job as a 3D Environment Artist and am looking forward to doing similar projects in the future! Working with Virtual Production was super fun as well and it was very interesting to be virtually present during the set and see how everything works in a studio behind the scenes.
